I founded Alvo + Beal to help purpose-led companies and non-profits evolve and thrive by deeply connecting with people. This includes listening to what your key audiences value and need, and engaging them directly in your work.
Throughout my career, I have dramatically increased public support for responsible products, changed consumer norms and advanced innovative public policies – first as Chief Engagement Officer at MomsRising and most recently as the founding Senior Vice President of Global Advocacy at Mozilla. As an executive leader of both non-profits and purpose-led companies, I have created – and scaled – successful products and programs through participation.
Across all industries and issues, organizations often forget to connect directly with the people they hope to attract. The result? Declining relevance, limited visibility, low retention, and lagging revenues.
Alvo + Beal was founded to help organizations turn towards their supporters, leading to products and programs that will spark loyalty, participation and personal investment. This approach will be increasingly relevant as ‘Gen Z’ consumers take center stage and our AI-powered world drives everyone to seek more (real) human connection.
Alvo + Beal is named in recognition of my parents’ birthplaces: Alvo, Nebraska and Béal Feirste (Belfast), Northern Ireland. These two very different places – the American Heartland and coastal Ireland – remind me that collaboration across difference can be magical.
I founded Alvo + Beal as a consultancy uniquely supporting both purpose-led companies and nonprofits. Why? Well, because I believe both can and must drive social change. But also because both sectors face the same challenges in creating meaningful, lasting impact.
For over 20 years, I have designed and led social impact initiatives that change consumer products, global policies and cultural norms – first as Chief Engagement Officer at MomsRising and most recently as the founding Senior Vice President of Global Advocacy at Mozilla. My issue expertise spans AI, responsible technology, gender equity and economic justice.
Successful social change initiatives have deep, meaningful community engagement at their core. Participation isn’t a ‘nice to have’ – it’s the fuel for relevance, impact and scale. And if your key audiences aren’t drawn to your effort, that’s a sign to heed.
As an executive leader of both non-profits and purpose-led companies, I have a unique track record of sparking – and scaling – effective purpose programs in these sectors. It also means I naturally see opportunities for collaboration across the public and private sector. Today’s societal challenges truly call for an “all hands on deck” approach.
