How is the underlying mood of US consumers affecting

Porter Novelli has launched a new consumer sentiment analysis series: Mood + Mindset: Tracking the Pulse of American Consumers. Of particular interest is Porter Novelli’s emphasis on tracking and uplifting Gen Z’s growing influence.

Here are some highlights from their June 2025 survey and analysis, which surveyed 1,000 consumers (including 20%+ Gen Z):

  • Nearly half of those surveyed (49%) have ‘boycotted’ a brand because of its values and this was more common among younger consumers.
  • Almost a third of Americans want to see companies pursue local initiatives, rather than big statements or national initiatives.
  • Across demographic and political affiliations, consumers expressed a common emotional need for peace and calm (48%), stability (45%) and kindness/unity (43%)

This Mood + Mindset series offers a unique, ongoing sentiment analysis that focus on what’s driving consumer sentiment and how that shows up in the organizations and companies gaining support.
