US Public Opinion on ‘Corporate Activism’

What's the current public opinion about corporate activism in the US? A recent Gallup poll shows increasing support, particularly among younger adults.

Majority of people want companies to speak out on topics including diversity, equity and inclusion, according to a May 2025 Gallup poll of 3,000 US adults.

Here are a few key takeaways from the report’s findings:

  • Young adults (18-29 years old) expressed the strongest support (60%) for businesses taking a public stance on current events and their support grew by 14% since 2024.
  • Overall, support has risen for businesses to take a public stance on free speech, immigration policy and international conflicts.
  • Some of the most notable increases over the past year include support for businesses speaking out on immigration (41% in 2025, up from 31% in 2024), free speech (58% vs. 48% in 2024) and international conflicts (33% vs. 24% in 2024).

One public opinion polls does not a trend make! However, this poll echos some of trends around consumer mobilization we’ve seen in the first half of 2025.
